prompt ficcies :)
woo... so last post i asked people to give me some prompts to write fics.  i got two responses and both of them were hard, but... i think... at least i hope.. i pulled them off somewhat.  without further ado, i give you:

I'm sitting here in the boring room
It's just another rainy Sunday afternoon
I'm wasting my time
I got nothing to do
I'm hanging around
I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

Elijah sat, drumming his fingers on the table. The worst thing about New Zealand, he thought, were the random Sunday’s he and Astin had off while the other hobbits were busy on the sound stage. There was always a possibility on these lazy days to hang out with Sean and the family, but more often than not he found himself covered in a smoke-haze looking out the window and wondering. Right about now, those involved in the Helms Deep shoot would be sleeping their day away getting ready for a long, grueling night of fighting. There was literally nothing for Elijah to do.

In the beginning, he had always been able to count on Orli to stop by on these days, regardless of the lack of sleep it would mean for the elf. They would sit, play some cards, perhaps go out onto the beach and surf (or attempt to surf on his part). Occasionally they would order food and just relax in companionable silence.

Whatever the day brought, however, Elijah found himself content. Stubbing out his half-finished cigarette, he closed his eyes.

I'm driving around in my car
I'm driving too fast
I'm driving too far
I'd like to change my point of view
I feel so lonely
I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

The wind in his hair did nothing to quell the fact that he was alone tonight. Orlando revved up the engine driving faster, barely making the turns without incident. It was one of the only things that had made him feel alive recently. He found himself spending his time off, whether it be a few hours before he hauled himself to bed or an actual day off, driving around in his jeep, wondering if he could safely jump the small ravine without injuring himself. Luckily, he didn’t try. Tonight, he just needed to get away, and the more he pushed the pedal to the ground, the safer he felt.

He used to get phone calls from Elijah on his days off. The hobbit would chatter in his ear about some silly thing Astin or Andy did and he would smile, even though he knew the blue-eyed boy couldn’t see him. Some nights, Elijah would ask him to come over to “chill” as the American so often said. He’d jump in his jeep and smile to himself, wondering what plans Lij had cooked up this time. Orlando looked in his rear view mirror and sighed. He reached for his cell phone and turned it off.

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree

The feelings started after months of filming. The night he realized what was going on, Orlando was sitting in his living room, mohawk askew, staring at the cards in his hand. The look of concentration on the elf’s face made him smile. It was then that it hit him. Orlando was beautiful. Yes, he was sure that the Englishman was told that on a regular basis, but sitting here, on his floor, eyes narrowed, tongue sticking out of his mouth just slightly, hair completely a mess, was the most gorgeous creature he had ever laid eyes on.

Elijah had freaked that night, feigning illness and ushering Orlando out the door. “Don’t want our elf to get sick, do we?”   And from then on, the visits were few and far between. Elijah never called anymore to see what Orli was doing, and the brown-eyed boy hardly ever just stopped by anymore.

I'm sitting here
I miss the power
I'd like to go out taking a shower
But there's a heavy cloud inside my head
I feel so tired
Put myself into bed
Well, nothing ever happens and I wonder

Elijah liked him, he was certain of that. It had taken him a few months to realize that fact, but once he did, he brushed it off as just another person fawning over him. The night Elijah realized it, however, was a night he’d give anything to live over again. If he could, he would brush off Elijah saying he was sick and convince the hobbit that it would be better if he stayed and took care of him. Then Elijah might not just be another person who liked him for his looks.

Instead, he had gone away, doubt circling around in his head. Every night since he’d look at the phone, desperate for a number to appear on the screen, but it never showed. Orlando had stopped dropping by the hobbit’s home, hoping to gain some leverage in the situation, but the only thing he got out of the situation was an acute tiredness… the waiting was killing him.

Isolation is not good for me
Isolation I don't want to sit on the lemon-tree

I'm steppin' around in the desert of joy
Baby anyhow I'll get another toy
And everything will happen and you wonder

He had decided it was time to move on. His rainy-day Sunday’s weren’t getting any better, and the thoughts about Orlando were just about killing him. He had decided that he would forget about the elf… at least in the sense that he was thinking about him. Maybe they could get back to being friends again, like before. Maybe, if he would just accept defeat, he could call up Orli on the phone and ask him to come over again to chill. And maybe, some night he’ll find someone out at a bar and take them home, forgetting once and for all about his elf.

“Elijah?” the question sliced through the air, and he turned around. Orlando was here, and he wondered….

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
And I wonder, wonder

He saw the startled look in the blue eyes. His driving had only led him to one place, regardless of how far off the beaten trail he had travelled. Ultimately, he wanted—no, needed, to see Elijah. He was tired of wondering.

Taking a deep breath, he crossed the floor until he was standing right next to the smaller boy. “Elijah…” he breathed, pulling him into a hug, crushing the younger man against him. He felt the tentative arms wrapping around him until he too was being held so tightly, it was almost as if Elijah was afraid to let him go. He understood completely.

I wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see, and all that I can see, and all that I can see
Is just a yellow lemon-tree

foryukisherry, who requested an orlijah with the song "Lemon Trees" by Fool's Garden

It had to be one of the worst mornings of his life. No, scratch that, of his post-Voldemort life. He had woken up to Hermione screeching from his living room about being late for lunch followed by the lovely sound of her brood as they argued amongst themselves. It seemed that the insufferable fights between Ron and Hermione he had had to endure during school had been passed down a generation and were now permeating the walls of his small, but cozy flat. At this moment he would have given his left arm to have his small, cozy flat turn into something akin to an inhabitable mansion… so long as the screaming would stop.

Sighing to himself, Harry slowly sat up in bed. The screaming had done nothing for his headache, which was now pounding rather less than dully in his ears. Thankfully, he had stocked up on hangover potion during his weekly shopping trip to Diagon Alley and in under five minutes was feeling rather refreshed.

“HARRY!!!!!! HURRY UP!!!! The Ministry Luncheon is in… 10 minutes!”

Ministry Luncheon. Wonderful. Only the Ministry of Magic would decide that a Luncheon was more favorable than a nice dinner. Either way, he supposed he would still have reservations about attending, as he did every Ministry function since the war had ended. It had now been eight years since the fall of Voldemort and he, Hermione, and Ron were still asked to attend even the littlest of get-togethers.

“I’m coming, Hermione! I just… have to get my… shoes… on!” Harry gritted through his teeth. Yes, this was turning out to be a truly spectacular morning.

Harry followed his two faithful best friends and their children into the dining hall, which was adorned with twinkling fairy lights. A large number of people had already gathered for the luncheon, and Harry breathed in the soothing smells of food. Ahh.. yes, he could smell the old familiar aroma of past Hogwarts meals and prior Ministry festivities. This, he thought, was the only thing he liked about the entire ordeal. Free food. He tried picking through the various different fragrances that assaulted him when he was surrounded by the unmistakable smell of… smoked almonds?

His eyes going wide, Harry glanced around the room trying not to be obvious. Smoked almonds was something that only meant one thing. It meant that—

“Well, well, Potter, I see we’ve dressed in our finest clothes today.   Oh… and you’ve even managed to tie your shoelaces properly. Bravo!”

“Malfoy. So glad to see you.” Harry managed, as he whipped around to face the blonde. Since the war had ended, everyone was informed that Draco Malfoy had been a key spy within Voldemort’s inner circle and his information had led to the dark lord’s eventual downfall.

“I’m sure it is, Potter. After all, we do see so little of each other these days.”

“Oy! Malfoy! What the hell are you doing over here?” The yell had garnered both of their attentions and they were faced with a scowling red-head. “It’s been eight bloody years and you have to insult Harry first thing every time you see him?!” Ron had by this time crossed the space and had grabbed Harry’s elbow. “C’mon, Harry… let’s leave the git alone.”

“My Weasley, so protective of your friend Harry here. If I didn’t know you had a litter of next-to-knutless children running around, I’d have thought you were shagging him.” Draco smirked, raising his eyebrows slightly.

“Why.. you… I….”

“Ronald! Draco! ENOUGH!” All three turned toward the new voice that had rung out. The bushy-haired woman had a scowl on her face and her armed were crossed in front of her. “I can’t leave you alone, Ronald, without you getting into some sort of brawl, can I?” she reached for Ron, pulling him over towards where she was standing. “And Draco, honestly, the insults are getting a tad old.”

Harry watched as his two friends walked away… well, in Ron’s case dragged away, to the other end of the room. Leave it to Malfoy to upset Hermione on a day like today when she would most likely lay into him later for some stupid thing he might not have even done.

“They don’t have a clue still, do they?” the blonde next to him asked.

“Not one.” He replied, sighing.

“Mmm… well, you are the one who refuses to tell them. It has been five years now.”

“Yes, I know, I just...” Harry trailed off, getting the whiff of smoked almonds again. “Draco, why are you eating those here? You know I associate you with them… I almost freaked when I smelled them the first time.”

“Oh, I know you did. I saw those wide eyes of yours when you realized I was nearby, Harry.” The last words were breathed into his ear, making him shudder. “I couldn’t help myself…”

“Draco…” Harry warned lightly, hoping that the blonde would take the hint.

“What, Harry? You know how I get when I eat these…” Draco trailed off. “Besides, at least you know what you’re in store for after this charming little luncheon, hmm?”

Harry stood, gaping at the grey-eyed man only a foot away from him. Right now, all he wanted to do was forget the luncheon completely, and he knew his companion knew that as well. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, he tried to compose himself. Draco was right, five years of sneaking around was hell sometimes, but it was just something he’d have to deal with if he wanted to keep their little affair a secret.

The blonde leaned closer, Harry could feel it. “And maybe… maybe you could start practicing transfiguring those shoelaces of yours into something more…useful…”

“Draco…” this time it wasn’t a disguised warning. He knew his longing moan could be heard by the other man. “We… we can’t…” but even as he said it, his arm wrapped around Draco’s waist, holding the other body close. And when Draco swept down for a kiss, Harry just couldn’t deny it.

As the kiss broke and the shocked murmurs of those around him rose, Harry, buried his neck into his partners. “Draco, I swear, the next time you eat those bloody almonds…”

forlimeysugarwho requested a harry/draco with "smoked almonds" and "shoelaces."

Are there certain pairings you'd prefer, or are you up for a challenge? (any pairing I'd give you would have Orlando as one half *snerk*...I'm SO predictable)

I know you write Orlijah, but are there any others in the lotr fandom?

btw...just noticed that my Dom icon matches your background...I think he and Evie share clothes and hats *snerk*
